Safeguarding Officer and Deputies Policy

Role of the Safeguarding Officer:
The Safeguarding Officer has a key duty to take lead responsibility for raising awareness amongst the staff of issues relating to the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and the promotion of a safe environment for these individuals within The Dental Practice.
Responsibilities of the Safeguarding Officer include:
- Receiving and responding to safeguarding concerns and allegations.
- Providing advice and support to other staff on issues relating to safeguarding.
- Maintaining a proper record of any safeguarding concern or allegation, actions taken and outcomes.
- Ensuring that staff receive basic training in safeguarding issues.
Deputies:
In the absence of the Safeguarding Officer, a designated deputy will assume the responsibilities of the Safeguarding Officer. Deputies will also undergo training to ensure they have the necessary skills and understanding to perform these duties effectively. The names and contact details of the deputies will be made readily available to all staff.
Review:
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as required to incorporate changes in legislation or best practice.
