Immunologic Disorders: Dental Implications
Angel of the West by Julian Voss-Andreae, inspired by the antibody structure.
Welcome to our course on the dental implications of Immunologic and Autoimmune Disorders. This course is essential for dental professionals as it equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely manage and treat patients with various immunologic and autoimmune conditions. Providing comprehensive care to these patients requires an understanding of the medical considerations that influence dental treatments.
Immunologic and autoimmune disorders, including HIV/AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren’s syndrome, post-organ transplantation complications, and inflammatory bowel diseases, present unique challenges in dental care. This course will cover the pathophysiology of these disorders, their clinical manifestations, and the impact they have on oral health.
The course focuses on enhancing knowledge about the pathophysiology and clinical presentations of major immunologic and autoimmune disorders and how these conditions affect oral health and dental treatments.
We look into evaluating the oral health impacts of these disorders, understanding necessary modifications in treatment protocols, and best practices for patient education on oral hygiene. We also cover how to collaborate effectively with medical professionals to provide integrated care.
