Therapeutic Strategies:
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure - CPAP
CPAP is the primary treatment for OSA, involving the application of positive air pressure to the upper airway via a tight-fitting face mask to prevent its collapse during sleep.
CPAP has been shown to be effective in reducing the apnoea-hypopnea index (AHI) and improving subjective and objective measures of sleep quality.
However, adherence to CPAP therapy remains a significant challenge, with up to 50% of patients being non-adherent.

Strategies to improve adherence include
- Patient education
- Behavioural interventions
- Technological innovations such as auto-adjusting CPAP devices and telemedicine-based monitoring
